If you do not find your answer in the FAQ, please send screenshots and a detailed explanation of the problem to our awards committee.

PRICING
 AND REGISTRATION PROBLEMS

Q. I am trying to login using my AIGA.org credentials and it is not letting me in.
A. The account registration for A7 is not the same as for AIGA.org. You need create a new account. Of you are a member, be sure to put in your AIGA member number in the account registration field. The system may reject you creating a new account because your email might already be in the system from last year. Just follow the password recovery feature to access your old KC Design Awards account.

Q. I am an AIGA member in the process of submitting an entry to A7 and am getting the non-member price.
A. Please make sure you have entered your AIGA number and indicated AIGA member where prompted. If you don’t know your AIGA member number, please search here. If you are still unable to find your member id contact AIGA KC.

Q. I have entered several entries to my cart, but then updated my account with my AIGA member number but the AIGA member discount isn't being reflected in the total of my cart, why is that?
A. The price of an entry is determined by the system at the time it's added to the cart. So the membership status of the account must be accurate prior to entering work into the system. The only way to correct is to delete and re-enter the entries..

DELETING AN ENTRY

Q. I have accidentally created two entries for the same piece, I attempted to make a change and it made two different entries. When I attempt to remove one of them using the REMOVE select box, it won’t update with it removed. Please advise.
A. Please log out and log in again, then delete the duplicate order.

EDITING AN ENTRY

Q. Can I edit the details of an entry after I have already submitted it?
A. At this time, entry details can NOT be edited after the payment process is complete. Be sure your entry details are accurate prior to submission. Thanks.

PEOPLE’S CHOICE

Q. How do I submit a motion graphic entry for people’s choice?
A. For motion and interactive pieces, we recommend submitting one static image that shows multiple frames or pages of the piece. Video, flash or url’s are not accepted for the People’s Choice award, only static images can be accepted

Q. Can I submit a student entry for a people’s choice award?
A. Student entries are eligible for the People’s Choice Award but will compete with all entries, including professional entries.

Q. What are the image requirements for entering a people's choice image?
A. Use the following as a guideline:
Format: JPG, GIF and PNG are the acceptable image formats.
Size: Images larger than 5MB are not ideal.
DPI: 72 DPI is best.
Dimensions: We recommend using 1280 x 1024 as a basic guideline. It is ideal to make it not too tall or too wide in proportion.

Q. Can I enter an image into the People's Choice Awards after I have already submitted my entries?
A. At this point in time, you must enter the image for the People's Choice Awards at the time the entry details are submitted.

ENTRY COUPONS

Q. I understand that each entry is required to have an entry coupon attached to it. What I do not understand is that only 1 physical copy is required per entry. What do I do with the remaining 5 coupons?
A. We provide five copies as a default because some entries have up to five versions of the same entry. You may discard the additional copies for a single version entry.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Q: I have photography submissions. The files are 60×40 inches. Would you suggest I print them and send them in, or send them as digital files?
A: Please submit one high-resolution print of your entry, mounted or unmounted. (Digital viewing is intended for screen based design work such as websites and motion graphics only.)

If the scale is not important to the image, you will want to print this at a size appropriate to the image and affordable to print.

STUDENTS

Q. Do students select a category for their work other than student?
A. Students select only student as a category. Students do not select a specific design category like Announcements and Cards or Branding and Identity.

Q. Can you explain why students have to be members and tell me how to join?
A. AIGA KC is limited in accepting online payments to three categories- member, non-member, and student member by the system set up by our national organization. This year we are processing all entries online to increase our ability to track entries and make the judging more efficient. You can join AIGA online here. AIGA KC membership director, Bess Baumgartencan answer any further questions.

Q. Can I submit a student entry for a people’s choice award?
A. Student entries are eligible for the People’s Choice Award but will compete with all entries, including professional entries.

WEBSITES

Q. I was hoping you could explain a little more about the difference between
Websites: Business & Corporate and Websites: Consumer.
I want to make sure I submit to the correct category.
A. Business and Corporate would be any website that is designed for a corporation where a certain professionalism is in order. These websites are typically HTML and may have great design and usability, but are not usually too flashy.

Consumer websites are meant to market directly to the consumer and are typically the fancier flash websites.

The reason for this differentiation is that the corporate websites would rarely win an award up against a flashier consumer site. We are trying to compare apples to apples and to give the very-well designed corporate site a chance at an award.

Q. How do I submit a website for a people’s choice award?
A. We recommend submitting one image that shows multiple frames or pages of the piece.

MOTION GRAPHICS

Q. Do I have to submit motion graphics with a url or can I give you a zip drive?
A. We prefer motion graphics submitted with a url but we will accept them on portable media.

MOBILE GAMES & APPS

Q. Can I submit mobile games and apps entries on portable media instead of with url?
A. The only way we can view and judge mobile games and apps is through an emulator on either a web page or on a drive, or through a submitted video of the app being used. Please submit your entry in one of these forms. Apps also being entered for the People’s Choice Award should submit a single static image with multiple frames in one image, for that portion of the judging only.

PACKAGING

Q. Can small packaging items be submitted rather than a print out or photo?
A. We will accept three-dimensional items that measure less than 48" combined length, width and depth per item. Please submit one copy and wrap well. Please do not submit scented items.
